Pin + wire hook tutorial

As you know, I’m a crafty girl and as previously posted about, my pinning obsession is still up and running. Recently I’ve began making hooks out of wire and pins (well.. thumb tacks) and today i’ll show you how to make them (in really hard to understand steps!

They look like this and they currently hold a note for school and my ‘Dymo’ labeller.

This is what you need:

Thumbtacks (or as shown, drawing pins). Also a score from my cousins dead grandfather (r.i.p).

Wire!!!

STEPS!

1) Get your wire and cut your desired length. We are aiming for a circle with some wire left over.

2) Enclose the circle by wrapping the excess wire with the other end of the wire.

3) Bend the sides together to form a rectangular oval.

4) Bend it again in half like shown (keep the roundness on the bottoms). This will make the hook.

5) Set up the thumb tack by putting it in your wall (or wood or something, not a corkboard) and leave like 5mm of space.

6) Insert your ‘hook’ into the gap of the thumbtack on one of the larger ‘C’s with the gap of the ‘C’ facing downwards. Press on the ‘hook’ to make it upright.

AND YOU’RE FINISHED!!

You can even hang your (notso heavy) bags on it!

Enjoy!

Pins, pins, pins!

I have an obsession – its pinning. Not in the pinterest way but in the legitimate pins in wall/corkboard way.

They give my room a bit of a more artsy feel – in my opinion.

They hold up my pens (with the help of wire)!!

The Papermate Inkjoy pens are amazzzzing! Also the gel ink pens by the same brand, not the clicky ones but the lid ones.

Don’t use Blu-Tack! Use a pin and a clip! It looks cool, ok?

I drew all of Zukos hair throughout the series.

Wax seal

2013 home 231

I had gotten a wax seal of my initials in Las Vegas ages ago.

Hence the gross nail polish

After several attempts I had gotten it right – well my dad did. The first time I tried to seal brown paper together but I left it too short and the wax got on the seal. That sucked. At least it got off with a toothpick. Anyways, back to regular artsy updates soon because i’ve been inking non-stop!

What's up

My absence from this blog can be blamed on assignments, socialness, distraction – but mainly the cause is laziness & procrastination. Sorry about that non-existent readers!

Inking with India Ink

Finally, you’ve gotten some art stuff! If you don't already follow me on instagram, you wouldn't know that I've recently bought some Winsor and Newton India ink. Since that purchase I've gone crazzzzy over it. Seriously, its the most relaxing thing ever and its way easier than painting.

My ink purchase was brought on by one of my new artist crush, Stephanie Pepper.  She often uses Bombay ink for her art (which my local art store doesn't supply, wah) and watercolours for the colouring. You guys should definitely check her art out, its amazing. (Might I add that she owns a snake and a lizard?! Thats rad!!)

Now onto my art stuff. The only ink I bought was this black one and so far I love it!! They’re very pigmented, as they should be. I used the ink on Arches paper and the one I chose was really thick but good. When I used the ink on the Arches paper it didn't bleed and still provided a nice canvas for it. Ok. um yeah.

Look here!! Pizza!! Girls!! Coffee?!!

ink 2

I’ve had my eye on the AA baseball tee for a while..

ink 3

I ruined it with the gills. I was gonna erase it out before I posted it here but I decided against it.

ink 4

I CAN DRAW MEN NOW!! (with long necks)..

ink 5

The worst one. This was one of the first official drawings I did with the ink. My mum hates it on account of her fear of snakes.

Triangulation Blog

At this moment i’m watching Dance Academy, the episode where everyone is grieving over a persons death, but I won’t spoil it for you.  ok, now Abigal is crying – I want to cry too.

ANYWAYS, IM BACK FROM AMERICA (more on that later, I’m too lazy to upload photos now).

To make up for the sorry lack of posts IU want to share with you a blog of sorts. Its really into the interactive types of art and shares many online javascript-y things.

DA UPATE: They’re having the beach memorial now.

My first interaction (geddit? no? ok) with this website was from a project of where there were many triangles that were changed from sliding bars and putting the cursor over the triangle into different shapes and colours and effects. It is definitely cool and available here

DA UPADTE: THEYRE READING *****’S LIST OF 50 THINGS TO DO OMG KILL ME NOW.

DA UPDATE: THEYRE PLAYING HIS FAVOURITE SONG AND HIS FIRST THING TO DO ON THE LIST WAS TO MAKE A GROUP OF FRIENDS THAT HE"’LL KNOW FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.

According to its about page, it quotes “ Started in January 2010. It is an art based research focused on a triangular concept, abstract—experimental—and new media art.” This blog is a must for people into experimental, interactive, digital and internet based art or just people wanting to kill time.

FINDS:

Mirage Machine :  Move the cursor around the page and get this rainbow highlighter of colours that swirl and change in size as you draw around.

The Art of Selecting  : Like in Photoshop, paint or many other drawing or editing programs you can select things by drawing a dotted square or rectangle around the object you want to select. This piece is really simple, as you drag your cursor to select nothing but you can evidently see the shadows behind it.

360 : This is a 360 degree view of space, I think…

Lonely Polychrome : Move your cursor around to lead the rainbow rope thing around.

DA UPDATE: THEYRE ALL DANCING ON THE BEACH. OH – AND ETHAN CAME.  ALSO TARA HASNT CRIED YET.

Random post #6

I drew up some potential chair designs, just because. The ones in the right top corner were supposed to fold up but I then remembered the chair part can't.

Random post #4

As some people close to me know, I'm obsessed with the show Avatar the last Airbender and within the series I am deeply attached to the pairing Zutara. I ship them with a passion, going so far to make fan art and read/ (attempt to write) fanfiction almost everyday. I'm a weirdo. So anyways, here's a weird comicy thing of the evolution of Zukos hair.
